RSS Feeds

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.

The best way to understand RSS is to look at it as a consumer... it lets the consumer "subscribe" to the news and content they want.

RSS is still young and the benefit is not obvious to many. It is on an excellent growth curve and is displacing email marketing.

Benefits:

  • Stay abreast of information and content. Use it to stay in-tune with what people are saying about you, your area and any other items of interest.

  • Improve the website content on YOUR website... "Syndication" of anyone that offers an RSS feed. News, Travel Reviews, Weather and Local content can all be imported into your website. RSS can be used to move content among and between your websites/webpages as well. (Post it on the Blog as a timely post and then pull it into your homepages a recent news... See Blizzard Internet as an example)

  • Push YOUR content out to the bigger world. SEO benefits are reaped when your content can be picked up by RSS search engines, and, when other websites pick up your content and "syndicate" it.
